I try to base my ministry, and my life, on the following verse:

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.
- Philippians 2:3

This is both my vision and my mission statement. My goal is to give those around me a boost up the mountain that takes them closer to their own destiny and calling in the Lord. When I die, the only thing I really want people to remember about me is that I reminded them of Jesus. I'm no where near there yet.

For the ELEOS website specifically, the vision and purpose is right there on the logo, taken from James 2:13

For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

I started this site in part as a result of an ongoing encounter with God's mercy in my life, as well as my lack of showing it toward others. God, in His grace, brought me to a point where I started to see the same damaging lack of mercy in others that had helped make a mess of my own life. My purpose with ELEOS is twofold. First, to provide some encouragement and comfort to those who need mercy (2 Cor. 1:4) Second, to show others that mercy does indeed triumph over judgment, and that having an unmerciful attitude robs you of that mercy God would bestow on you.

Some foundational principles of living a life of mercy:

Prayer: Communion with the Father on an intimate, ongoing basis is vital to becoming like Christ. Interceding for others, especially those who have offended you, is one of the greatest privileges a Christian has.

Gratefulness: We have more to be thankful for than we even know about. An entire generation of Israelites perished in the wilderness because of their hardened hearts. If you want to know what is God's will for your life, start by practicing 1 Thess. 5:18…in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Worship: We enter into God's gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. (Ps. 100:4) If we live lives of worship, focusing all we are, do and say with the intention of glorifying God and telling Him we love him, we will find God's mercy abounds in every situation. We will also naturally want to share that mercy with others.

Humility: God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble (Jas. 4:6) True strength and Christlikeness is founded upon a broken spirit and contrite heart. Those who truly understand who they are in Christ-and who they are without Him-can serve all men with gladness.

Faith & Faithfulness: Without faith, it's impossible to please God (Heb. 11:6). Without faithfulness, it's impossible to serve God. Trusting God gives you the power to be trusted by God.

Study the Word: "Food for the spirit" may seem like a hackneyed cliché', but it is also true. Read the Bible faithfully, and in faith, and I guarantee your life will change.

Servanthood: Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave- just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many. Mt. 20:26-28. Are you any greater than Jesus?

Turn to me according to the multitude of Your tender mercies.-Psalm 69:16
